I’m joining some of my favorite bloggers for a fall home tour hop today! So if you’re joining me from White Arrows Home, welcome! I’m sharing my own minimalist fall home tour, and at the bottom of this post you’ll find links to some truly spectacular spaces.
But first, full disclosure: this is definitely a minimalist fall home tour! September has been a WILD month so far – I have so many stories to share with you. Because this month has been action packed, I haven’t had a chance to do much seasonal decorating. But I tried! I actually ventured into the world and went to a home decor store and two thrift shops but wow, were the shelves bare! I’m talking totally empty. It was a bit of a bummer because I haven’t actually been into many stores since March, lol. We used pay and pick up, or online shopping, for everything from groceries to home improvement store purchases. I was kind of excited to pick up a few cute fall decor pieces but nope. Then my other fall decor plan failed: I tried to grow some blue pumpkins in my DIY cold frame garden beds, but so far I have giant leaves and flowers, but no pumpkins. Let’s just hope it takes some more time…? I have waited months for those, so I’m not ready to give up yet. But not being able to grow those blue pumkins kind of deflated my fall decor plans even more, haha. I have some cute projects I’m working on for Halloween though, so maybe I’ll just enjoy this super minimal fall decor for now! It’s definitely incredibly budget-friendly because I didn’t buy anything new or spend any money.
You already saw my painted mason jars and free, foraged fall flower centerpiece.
I also hung up my sweet and simple DIY gradient pumpkin wreath from a couple of years ago.
The copper and aqua gradient pumpkins are too cute!
I also lined either side of the fireplace, on my mini mantles, with some cute faux pumpkins – I painted some with chalk paint last year to mimic the elusive blue bumpkins I can’t ever find locally.
Last year I displayed them as a cute little centerpiece (above), but this year I mixed them up with some bronze and gold pumpkins I bought at the dollar store last fall (but they have them again this year and they hold up really well).
Keeping with my free (or re-used from last year) fall decor theme, I created some cute pumpkin “art” for my Samsung Frame TV. I’ve really gotten into creating seasonal artwork for it because it adds some festive cheer for $0. I usually use my camera because it needs a high resolution to look good, but for this I used a cell phone picture. It was a little too low res but I added a little graininess and editing using PicMonkey, so it looks a little less like a photo and more like a painting. Basically I worked with the poor cellphone quality!
Here’s the original photo:
And here it is cropped and edited, on my Samsung Frame TV:
Then I got obsessed and edited a bunch more photos for some variety, but I still think the pumpkin one is my favorite. Here’s one from our little fall drive last year:
I liked it, but thought it looked more “travel photo” than “artwork”. So I tried this photo from the same trip:
Same “vacation” vibe, so I edited this photo of me holding a squash (a substitute for the elusive blue pumpkins haha):
That was a more fun option! So was this cropped photo of a beautiful tree with golden leaves:
I really got creative editing this photo of pumpkins, adding lots of layers so it had a look similar to an old postcard.
But the simple pumpkin photo was my fave!
When the pumpkins ripen here, I’ll had back to the farm with my camera and take some more photos to use for creating fall Samsung Frame art. Many modern TVs can display art or photos, so if your TV has this option it’s a really fun and free way to add some seasonal “art” to a space. Other than also adorning my sofa with a cute and cozy cashmere throw and tucking away some super summery decor, those are my only fall decor touches so far… Here are a few past projects that were super fun:

Okay, I love all your beautifully painted pumpkins, but that frame TV has me interested! I always hate having a TV above the fireplace (okay, I had it in one house only…) but I’m not sure about what to do in the new build because the great room is also our TV/family room… the frame TV might be a perfect solution. I love how you shared the different print ideas! Also had the same experience of store shelves being empty for the most part and getting a bit creative since I packed my fall decor way in the back of my overstuffed storage bin. Ah well! It’s a good push to do something different this year:)

I have had my Frame TV for a few years now and I still love it. It’s so much thinner and flatter than other TVs so even when it’s not in “art” mode, it still blends in more than our last TV and the picture quality is so good. I shared a review of it right here. And that’s right, your decor is packed up! I can’t wait to pop over and see what you did! I’m sure it will be beautiful because you’re so creative.
I so much enjoyed seeing your fall decor, especially the scenes that you created to show on your TV. All of them are so pretty and they really pop against your dark painted fireplace. I took at peek at the before and afters of your Lake Superior home and love how you updated it. We have a second home on a lake in Virginia and I always enjoy seeing lake homes in other areas.

Thank you so much Paula! There is still so much to do, but I love it so far. It’s been a lot of fun working on this home. I love seeing lake homes too so I’ll have to pop over and see your lake home decor!
How beautiful! I love that you used your own photography as art for your smart TV. What a great idea!

The art for the Samsung Frame can get expensive once you grow tire of the free options, lol, so I’ve been having fun with the option to make my own!
so so fun, tanya! i love your mantle and the photos you are using on your frame TV are genius!

Thank you so much Cecilia! I am popping over to take a look at your space right now!
Tanya your tour was so helpful on so many levels! I loved all of your painted pumpkin tutorials and your tv art idea! I need to do some research to see how to change mine to a fireplace! (Our smart tv is in our bedroom) That would be so cozy! But I also think you need to make your pumpkin picture into a print or printable…it’s beautiful! Happy Fall and I hope your stores fill up soon!

Thank you for your kind words Kelly! I am planning on figuring out how to make my photos into prints for people to enjoy because I love taking photos.
Your minimalist fall home tour was just beautiful! I loved the pumpkin art you had for your frame tv, and love the dark color of that entire fireplace wall.

Thank you! And I’ve had my Frame TV for years and still totally love it – we only have the one living space so it’s nice to have the TV be front and center but blend it when we want it to.
I love the Fall pictures on your tv and your table floral centerpiece is so gorgeous!!
