I’ve spent the last week vacationing and I wanted to share a little review of Surfside on Lake Superior (located in Tofte MN). Although we don’t celebrate Christmas anymore, my family does enjoy spending time together during the holidays. Instead of gift giving and turkey eating, my parents, husband and I tend to travel this time of year. Last year and this year have been spent in a gorgeous rented townhome on Lake Superior, called Surfside. It’s quickly becoming one of our favorite places to stay. The town homes are decorated beautifully and set against the stunning landscape of Lake Superior. The view is outstanding – even in winter! I took tons of pictures of the ice, lake and sun setting.
You can see more of the inside on the Surfside website. There is so much space and it feels really comfortable – I could literally move right in. I didn’t take many photos of the interior, but I took this photo of the fireplace as inspiration for my future home:
The wall of windows is just amazing – we could sit here for hours and just watch the lake and its many moods.
The area around Tofte MN is beautiful and there are a ton of fun activities – we even went dog sledding! It’s a short drive to Grand Marais, MN, where we love walking around and popping into local shops and art galleries. There are a ton of delicious restaurants nearby as well. Duluth MN is only a couple hours away – very doable day trip for shopping, as long as the winter weather cooperates.
Mostly, though, we just love to unwind at Surfside! We go for walks, binge watch TV, play board games, and read a lot. There’s even an onsite spa and pool, just steps away! It’s such a peaceful place and we always start the year feeling refreshed thanks to our vacation at Surfside.
Here are some of my favorite photos of the lake from this trip!
Sunsets + ice = the pretties, glowiest photos! I really want to enlarge and have some of these framed.
Hi! I just stumbled on your blog and I've been popping around reading different posts, and I've just gotta say, you've made me want to go to Superior in the winter! My family goes every 4th of july (Munising MI), but I haven't been there in the winter since I was a kid. I'll probably have to fix that now. Also, love your blog! (from a fellow Finn)
