Handy Hubby and I must not know our city very well (even after three years) because, after approaching my favorite Value Village from an unfamiliar direction, I begged Hubby to stop at this “new” location. It wasn’t until we were almost at the door that I realized my mistake. Hmmmm . . . a little embarrassing. The bright side: new or not, I found this great yellow and white glass bowl for $1.99!
Hubby insists it looks like an ashtray, but I am enamoured with how perfectly it pairs with the yellow abstract I painted. Only once I settled on a yellow and grey bathroom scheme did I realize how hard it is to find zingy yellow accessories, so I am especially excited about this thrifty find.
I’m liking the added splash of citrus to the bathroom because it ties in the bright colours from the rest of the townhouse. Right outside the bathroom (impossible to photograph because the tripod won’t fit in the narrow hall) are my needle felted wool abstracts.
Does anyone else fiddle with their accessories around as much as I do? I am forever shuffling around the “smalls,” because they are such a cheap and easy way to spruce things up.
I Love the bowl and all the pops of color you have added… so pretty. Those needle felted abstracts are beautiful!
Thanks Mary!
LOve the yellow….
Oh yes, I'm always swapping things in and out. It's fun and even though it's small and cost maybe $2 it does make the room look different. So worth it! I love the little bowl. Very zingy. 🙂
Zingy, indeed! Happy I'm not the only one mesmerized by the small additions.
What a great find at VV boutique! Your bathroom is lovely.
What a pretty bathroom vanity. Love the hardware and marble top.
Love the color!
LOVE the new addition! I haven't mentioned this yet, but I'm obsessed with that painting in your bathroom. So beautiful. We're also doing a lot of yellow and gray and you're totally right – yellow accessories are hard to come by.
Thanks Erica. It took me two tries to produce a piece I liked, but now I'm never swapping it out!
Love that acid yellow. Your colour scheme in the bathroom is a winner! xx
Awesome find, and perfect to go with your beautiful abstract – I love your abstracts! Hubby is right. This is an ashtray – I have one in blue with white swirls, and it's definitely a pretty little dish in my house! I wrote a post awhile back on Kelly Green glass, and one of the photos is a green dish shaped exactly like your yellow one and my blue one. The green one was designed by Murano Glass… no stamp on the bottom of mine, so I'm pretty sure it's not a Murano!
Do we have to tell Hubby he was right?? I love that you have the same one in a different colour! I will have top pop over and look for that post, I think I missed it.
I love the yellow bowl, your painting and bold idea to pair gray with yellow. I have my favorite thrift store and look for little glass treasures all the time. Beautiful job!
I love your yellow and grey bathrom so much! Such a gorgeous colour combination 🙂
Ashtray or not, it's a cute find for your room and ties wonderfully to your painting. (I love your painting, by the way!)
Thanks so much!
Your bathroom is lovely and what a perfect find. I love the yellow and grey together!
I love your shower curtain – can I ask where you got it?Also – I have a bowl like your yellow on – mine is read and I think it is an ashtray. But I love it anyway! Bathroom looks great!:)Kathryn
Thanks! The shower curtain is by Marimekko (Tuuli Grey) and I bought it from Finnport (finnport.com) in Thunder Bay, but Finn Style (finnstyle.com) carries a lot of Marimekko also. Here's a link to the exact item: http://www.finnstyle.com/tuuli-grey-shower-curtain.htmlP.S. I love how more than one of my blog friends has the same ashtray but in another colour. Darn Hubby for being right, though.
Finding zingy yellow! i have this problem with my kitchen. Plenty of golden yellow and corn yellow accessories but not lemon yellow. I love the ashtray.
