It has not budged one millimeter. My Mom still loves it and it is completely held in place. It’s soft underfoot too, I noticed that right away. The place where my Mom bought the carpet didn’t suggest an underlay for this runner – perhaps other kinds do require one because of the construction. If you’re worried, make sure you visit a local carpet shop where the experts can help you choose the perfect runner and determine the additional supplies you need. I can see a really soft, thin runner requiring one… but this was very thick and sturdy. I hope this helps?

You don’t seem to have used underlay at all, does the carpet ‘move’ at all now it has been in a few weeks?

Any style of carpet can be used on stairs BUT nylon and wool are the most desirable for runners. Both choices tend to be very durable and offer the most high-end look.

I’m sorry I don’t have any info on the runner – it was sold on a huge spool at a local carpet place. No name or details, just a hand written price per foot.

Great article, I am finding it difficult to match a pattern to the stair tread and yours looks like a fantastic match. What was the pattern you choose? I want to try this as a project on my stairs. Thanks.
