Yes, of course! You can use any colors you like. I recommend thin coats of acrylic paint. Build up layers and you can easily correct if the paint is applied thinly. My advice it to keep layering and add in some lighter/darker colors for depth and you will be amazed at what you can create, even if you do not consider yourself a good painter. Aim for at least three layers of paint, with previous layers peeking through.

Hi, love your DIY ideas, I love playing with colors but am not a good painter. Can I do this painting in shades of yellow, orange and red? want to add these colors to my house to make it vibrant. Look forward to your views, or another DIY in these colors.

thanks

Thank you! I definitely try to re-use art and craft supplies as often as I can - they are so expensive, yikes. And you're right, so much better for the environment. People seem to think donating stuff is enough but a lot of that stuff ends up discarded too. I try to just produce less waste when I can, but it's a struggle.

Thank you! I have no idea why they discontinued that light! You have no idea how many people have written to me and asked that I sell them the ones off my ceiling. I should really do a round up of the reasonable options I suggest in lieu of these.

Love it! I'm also reminded how bummed I am that Ikea no longer sells the light fixtures you have in the hallway. They're my favorite and I can't find anything similar that's reasonably priced!
